Orleans Yacht Club (OYC) adult racing is normally held on Sundays afternoons. On August 19, 2006 the races were held on a Saturday so as not to overlap the club's annual meeting on Sunday. This was one of the races in the Radtke Series. Race results for the entire season are available on the OYC web pages. Youngsters of all ages sail in the adult races.

There were six boats racing on August 19. A set of two races were run. The race committee was Charlie and Susan Thompson. Vice Commodore Steve Downs provided his boat as a safety boat to allow photographs of the race to be taken from a more stable platform than the small club skiffs normally used as safety boat. The race participants are listed below.

Photographs were taken by Curtis Villamizar who also provided the terse (and hopefully accurate) comments accompanying these photos on the web pages. The 247 photos are organized into 27 web pages with comments indicating what stage of the races was in progress.

Most of the photos were taken with a 35 MM camera, a (rather old) Cannon AE1 with a 70-210 MM lens, shutter speed of 250 and F-stop of 8-11. The 35MM photos are 3000x2000 resolution after being digitized. Others photos were taken with a digital camera, an Olympus C700. This is a 2 mega-pixel (1600x1200) camera with 10:1 optical zoom.

The resolution of the original photos was very high, 3000x2000 and 1600x1200, and the photos were numerous. To avoid web provider disk space charges only reduced photos up to 1200x800 or 1200x900 are included on the web site. Anyone wanting to reprint photos larger than 5x7 should for best results contact Curtis Villamizar to get the original high resolution digital files.

Please indicate the resolution of your computer monitor. If you don't know, its fine to guess. If the right end of the page goes off the screen, then guess smaller.
