MOORING FIELD
The Club has a designated mooring field in front of the Clubhouse which has space available for members' sail/power boats as well as accomodating the Club's own sail/power boats; the Rear Commodore oversees the mooring field and the boats within it. All boats are subject to rules and regulations determined by the Town of Orleans' Harbormaster (click here) and have paid all required Town fees before mooring their boat in the Club's mooring field. A Club dinghy is available to facilitate access to the moored boats.

ADULT SAILING
The Club annually offers adult sailing instruction to its members. These free lessons run from April through early September and involve both classroom and on-the-water instruction using the Club's fleet of 14.2 foot Catalina Capris. Instructors are members of the OYC's DaySailer Fleet 15 (click here for more information) who teach the basics of boat parts, sailing theory, nautical nomenclature, knot tying, and rigging in the classroom as well as being the on-board instructors/mentors on the water in early June.
As an adjunct to this program, Club members who have been "qualified" by a Fleet 15 Mentor, or by the Director of the Junior Sailing Program, may check out a Capri for their own recreational sailing. Although racing is not covered in depth for adult sailing instruction, some may want to taste the waters of racing and three or more "qualified" sailors may compete with Capris during the Sunday races.

NAUSET REGIONAL HIGH SCHOOL SAILING TEAM
In 1996 OYC member and Past Commodore Greg Kelly had a vision for a high school sailing team at Nauset Regional High School and put in motion all of the right ingredients for what has become a very successful program. For the first five years the team was a club sport trying to prove itself. In 2001 the team the team began its first varsity season under current coach Warren Silver. Over the next nine seasons the team acquired 12 sailboats, practice sails, racing sails, 24 dry suits, electronic equipment, race course marks and a cumulative record of 95 wins and 35 losses. The team roster has averaged between 25 and 30 sailors for the past five seasons and the Orleans Yacht Club has always been the team’s home port. The NRHS sailing team is a coed, Varsity and Junior Varsity sport.
